Lunch Hour #5: Fire Ant
All about Fire Ant!
Ah Friday.
Ah Friday.
Well, the weather (despite a great weekend forecast) still looks pretty crappy out … but it’s Friday. Ah Friday.
I had a nightmare last night. You know how dreams can invoke absurdly extreme emotions that don’t seem proportional to the events of the dream? This was kinda like that. The nightmare wasn’t really one that scared you … it was more like one that caused a panic-attack. I woke up in the middled of the night and my heart was RACING. You know how sometimes your heart can beat so hard/fast you can practically hear it? Well, my ears were ringing. I took my pulse a couple of times before I was fairly sure I wasn’t going to die. I only remember bits and pieces of the dream but there was something about a crazy guy, an old missile silo, a rusted ladder, and a contagious disease (my nightmares don’t really leave anything to chance).
But nightmares be damned, it’s Friday. Ah Friday.
I’m fairly sure I’m going to have to rebuild my laptop at work today … it’s hosed. Which means, I probably wont be able to do an audio lunch hour today. Or more importantly, finish any of the countless things that suddenly got dumped on me yesterday.
But never fear, it’s Friday. Ah Friday.
If I do get to do an audio lunch hour today, I’ll tell you all about FireAnt!
Well I’m off to start the day that the weekend might arrive all the sooner.
Ah Friday.
News from Hell Week
Hi all. I’m sorry for the slow rate of blogs this week. This week has been rather hectic and will likely be ever more so as we close out the week.
But it’s raining out and I’m not sure if I’ll get an audio lunch hour in today … and wanted to give you a quick update … so here we go:
Be sure to check out khicks.com and see Kevin’s new vlog teaser. Even I’m not sure what to expect from Kevin’s vlog … each vlog is as unique as the person who publishes them, so only time will tell.
Meanwhile, I have identified no less than 5 things on my website which are broken. I sent a letter to ‘the manager’ which is supposed to get a response in 24 hours gauranteed … naturally I’ve gotten no response. I hope to be able to fix most of these things this weekend.
I found a cool porgram on the net last night. It’s called iPodder. It’s used to automatically download media files. It’s popular because of podcasting. With this application you can subscribe to various audio feeds. New episodes will be downloaded automatically for you - ready for transfer to your iPod when you next get to your PC. Then you can listen to your favorite internet show on the go.
Interestingly enough, it also works great for video feeds. You can use the tool to subscribe to your favorite video bloggers out there and it will download their latest videos ready for your watching pleasure the next time you get to your PC.
Also you can - today - subscribe to The DavidMeade.com Lunch Hour show! Just download iPodder and add this feed: http://www.davidmeade.com/feed. If any of you actually podcast me, please let me know!
Note: My feeds are still in development so you are actually helping me test them out. Please let me know of any issues you have, and please forgive me for them. (A big to-do will be had when feeds are finished and ready for prime time
)
So much to do and so little time … I’ll check in at lunch hour if I can.
Lunch Hour #4
Talking about my trip to Indy, while walking back from lunch on a bright sunny day … but still rather cold out.
Raining in the Windy City
Approximately 15 seconds after I stepped outside to go to lunch today it started raining.
I ducked into a piece of crap joint that was formerly a burger king … it can no longer use the name because the store failed to stand up to Burger King standards.
One REALLY bad fish sandwich later I decided that braving the rain was preferable to hanging out with the homless crazy people who had also taken refuge in the dive.
Thankfully the weather broke on my way back abit and I didn’t get too wet.
So anyhow I don’t have an audio lunch hour for you today, sorry.
But fear not, there is pleanty to keep you entertained even without an MP3 of me ranting. Today Kevin Hicks of KHicks.com announced he is going to join the Triad Founding sites and release a video blog as well. So far, he’s joined us on our joint launch date of July 4th. Be sure to check out his site and comment on his new teaser.
In other news … I have not scheduled my film making vacation yet - however the boss has told me that any of the dates I have in mind would work … so now I just have to set it all up.
On the way home from work last night I was on the L when some kid from Layola hopped on my train and started talkin’ to his buddy. They were making a film! He was talking all about budgets and casting and lighting and yada yada … it was a really interesting conversation to listen in on.
It took alot of restraint to not interupt and beg to be a part of it.
Crazy how some things in life seem to hit you from every direction all at once.
I think I may be heading to Indianapolis this weekend so maybe I can get Sterling to give me a guest interview for my next audio blog or something
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Another cold and windy day in May …
Site Issues
My amazingly service orriented hosting company has overwritten my phpBB files AGAIN … without even so much as advanced warning … AGAIN … please excuse any formatting problems until this is fixed.
Some functionality was destroyied and will have be recoded from scratch … AGAIN … I’m not sure yet if there will be loss of data or not.
I may have to switch hosting companies in the near future this is complete and utter BS.
