Thank you Mike Scaggs whereever you are.

Well my computer is back up and running. Thank you Mike! A chkdsk (once I got to the point I could run that) revealed there were 4 bad sectors on the hard drive (no doubt the sectors that had my file system drivers previously).

I’m pretty sure those sectors were either fixed and or not included in the new partition.

So I’ve got most things reinstalled now, and I’m working on getting all my settings back in place. Still got some big ticket items to reinstall, but such is life when you’ve reformatted.

So, now I’ve got myself the makings of a new PC.

See … while trying to figure out what was wrong with my PC, I’d purchsed a new hard drive … and a new motherboard … and nither were my problem. Embarassed So I’m pretty sure I’m gonna bite the bullet and get a processor, a some kick ass ram, video card, case and build me a new PC. LOL Laughing

Anyhow … I’m back in business (for the most part).

My computer at home has died. I’m in the process of trying to fix it, but it’s one of those problems that’s likely to take 3 weeks, and just as many express deliveries to fix. Crying or Very sad

Long story short there are issues with the hard drive … and a new hard drive doesn’t fix the problem. It’s got something to do with a RAID controller and the SATA interfaces on my motherboard … needless to say I should learn alot from fixing this.

I say that I SHOULD learn alot because I know in actuality I probably wont. I’ll try 573 different solutions, forget what I tried when, and on th 574 mindless jumbling of a dozen different solutions I’ll mysteriously get it to boot up again (probably after 2 weeks of swapping hard drives, changing cables, flashing bios’, cursing, and crying).

Anyhow … I’ve been exceptionally busy at work lately … and have no reliable method to blog at home, so please excuse the delay in blogs.

In other news Jack I just saw your guestbook entry. Thanks again for the classic find! Laughing

A change brewing?

There was a time in my life when I hated Diet Coke. Hated it with a passion. (For those of you who don’t understand the significance of this please refer to my past blog: Unhealthy Addictions)

There was no one thing that suddenly switched my favorite beverage to the no accursed Diet Coke … rather it was a group of small coincidences that worked the trick.

While working as the manager of a McDonalds in my youth there was a period of about 2 days when for whatever reason our store didn’t have regular Coke. (This is was huge deal actually … McDonalds without Coke is like Disney World without Mickey or Microsoft without lawsuits. The fact that it took two days for them to fix this was amazing). During these two days I had no choice but to drink Diet Coke.

Oddly enough the weekend prior my mom had mistakenly purchased a case Diet Coke at the store rather than regular … so (already addicted to caffeine) I had no choice but to drink Diet Coke at home as well.

So basically there was a solid week where the only caffeinated beverage I could drink was Diet Coke … and the David Meade you all know and love was born.

Over the past few weeks a similar set of small coincidences has been taking place.

The store across the street from me doest have Diet Coke for some reason. They have all other forms of Coke (even the abysmal lime-laden sewage that Coca-Cola markets as Diet Coke) … but they don’t have honest to goodness Diet Coke.

I have been forced to buy cases of Diet Pepsi.

Now I actually like Diet Pepsi … but I prefer Diet Coke. But still knowing how this has happened to me once before I can’t help but fear I’m going to be swapping beverages again.

The other day while at work I went downstairs for a Diet Coke … and they were out.

The Diet Coke runs at work have been my only Diet Coke on a sea of Diet Pepsi over the course of the past few weeks … the only thing keeping me the Diet Coke disciple that I am. Thankfully, the folks downstairs worked some magic on the soda fountain and I got my Diet Coke.

Should the cafeteria at work actually run out of Diet Coke for a few days … I’m all but screwed … might as well transfer my stock in Coca-Cola to Pepsi.
