cooler heads: still white hot.

This post filed under: Blog

O.K. so I flew off the deep end yesterday a bit. I’m putting the site back up (for now), however, do not read this act as any kind of retraction.

Firstly … The main allegation that I was forced to endure (for HOURS) is simply, unquestionably, and infuriatingly a flat out falsehood. Now I’m all for a bit of good-natured ribbing … but there are things you all need to understand:

  1. A joke is only funny for a certain amount of time … then it becomes annoying.
  2. When that joke is aimed directly at someone … it skips the annoying phase and moves directly into the “just plain mean” phase.
  3. When that joke has NO BASIS IN REALITY AND IS PURE SLANDOR SOLEY FOR THE SAKE OF MOCKING … well color me pissed off.
  4. When the comedy changes from “look at what’s funny” to “look how pissed off we can make someone” … that is simply malicious.

With the initial post … I laughed. I responded. Then came 5 more … I chuckled. Then 3 more, and I posted a mild “This is a load of BS”-type of response … then 5 more …. 5 more … 5 more … Then when I was finally and clearly pissed off a whole new round began! So I posted in no uncertain terms that I wasn’t enjoying this … but 3 more posts…then 3 more.

CLEARLY what was so entertaining for you all was not the initial (baseless) allegation, but rather watching me get so pissed off. The fact that I’m sitting somewhere pissed - no longer enjoying my day - was suddenly very funny. (Do you honestly not see the spiteful difference here?)

There is a very important difference between laughing with someone because of a quirk in their personality … and laughing at someone because they are pissed off at your laughing.

DO NOT pretend that what you were enjoying was anything other than “hehe Dave’s gettin’ pissed”. You may fool yourself with that but not me.

I’m the first person to make fun of myself. There is alot of things about me that are just damn funny and worthy of some good-natured mocking.

You can make fun of me all you like … seriously.

But from now on you need to stop when it’s clear that I’m no longer enjoying it. I honestly don’t mind being the butt of a joke. But I will no longer be the butt of the “hehe isn’t Dave funny when he’s pissed” joke. And frankly … I’ve suffered this spiteful humor just about 3 times too many lately. I mean its just plain fucking mean … how can anyone chuckle to themselves over someone else being ticked off … being ticked off isn’t fun … its a bad state to be in … I do not enjoy it … it makes me miserable … and you are laughing then at my misery … STOP IT!

Now … I will admit that I reached a state of rage far more quickly than one might have anticipated yesterday. And while you had no way of knowing that I have been getting shit from every angle lately and was NOT in a good mood (especially for that FUCKING LIE that was the basis of your joke) … the fact that I got mad unusually fast is irrelevant. I got mad … and it still didn’t stop.

You don’t have to understand “Why is Dave so pissed all the sudden”. You just have to learn to STOP when I am.

Two take-away points:

  1. I’ve been told many times “Dave you are too nice.” … that is changing. I will unleash the vile rage built up from 28 years of being the nice-guy on the next person to chuckle because I’m ticked.
  2. If you want to make fun of me … you’d better be damn sure there is at least some shred of reality in your jokes. And if you think there is … and I think there isn’t … I’M THE ONE WHO IS RIGHT. (Otherwise you will very quickly experience the vile rage discussed above).
